Small Fire At Imperial Oil

Imperial Oil personnel quickly extinguished a small fire at an electric substation at the Sarnia Manufacturing Site Monday.

Crews responded to what the company calls an operating issue shortly before 1 pm and an all-clear was issued at approximately 1:20 pm.

Spokesman Jon Harding says there may be visible flaring at the site and noise associated with the flaring as Imperial returns operations to normal.

He says site sirens were activated.

There are no reports of injuries.

Harding says the issue is not expected to affect Imperials’ ability to supply refined products to the marketplace.

Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change, the city and other appropriate authorities have been notified of the incident.
