Drugs And Shotgun Recovered In Raid

City police recovered almost $4000 worth of drugs and a shotgun from a south end home Monday night.

During a traffic stop around 9:15pm, a 40-year-old woman was arrested for possession for purpose of trafficking methamphetamine.

Constable John Sottosanti says Vice Unit officers then searched the accused's home in the 200 block of Ontario St. and found an array of drugs, ranging from methamphetamine to cocaine and codeine pills.

"The most alarming item located during the search was a loaded 12 gauge sawed off shotgun with six rounds in it," says Sottosanti.

"The gun was located under a bed in the home."

"Unfortunately, situations like this show the inherent risks that officers face when dealing with drugs," he says.

The total street value of the drugs is over $3,800. Officers also recovered about $1000 in cash.

40-year Rebecca Lynn Rees is charged with three counts each of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose as well as other weapons related charges.

She's to appear by video in Sarnia court July 4.
