Inn Of The Good Shepherd's Mobile Market Hits The Streets

After a successful program last year, The Inn of the Good Shepherd's Mobile Market has returned as of July 4. To be eligible, residents must have a food bank client card, social assistance income statement, old age supplement income statement, or proof they are in assisted housing.

Inn Executive Director Myles Vanni says they're bringing fresh fruits, vegetables to 14 locations every week for the next four months free of charge. He says they typically see just over 800 people each weekly, and go thorugh about 6,200 lbs of vegetables, mostly donated by local farms and gardens. Locations include Lambton College, Petrolia foodbank, Corunna's All Saints Church, Forest Contact House, Thedford Meadowville, Aamjiwnaang Community Centre, Kettle Point Hillside School, Alvinston Twp. Office, Watford United Church, and 587 Ontario St. in Wyoming.

In Sarnia, they'll be at Veterans Park, Kathleen St. Park, YMCA Learning and Careers Centre, and the Roger St. parking lot. For more information, visit theinnsarnia.ca.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
