A kitchen fire sent residents on the tenth floor of a Sarnia apartment building out into the street late Monday afternoon. Sarnia fire crews responded to Northgate Manor on Willowdale Cres. around 5pm Monday. Public Education Officer Mike Otis says the fire was contained to the stove and the cupboards above it, but there was plenty of smoke. He has a reminder for those living in apartment buildings. "Even if you've already called 911, if you have a fire in your apartment, you still need to pull the pull station and activate the fire alarm, to alert everyone else in the building." Fire officials say unattended cooking is the number one cause of all home fires.
