Technology Helps Police Nab Young Stolen Car Suspect

Technology helped Sarnia police arrest a young teen after a vehicle had been reported stolen to Lambton OPP at around 8:45am Tuesday.

The theft and a suspect were captured on video surveillance.

OnStar tracking traced the stolen vehicle to a location in the 1300-block of London Rd.

When city police arrived they noticed the main door to a nearby business had been smashed out with a cinder block. A set of keys had been taken and another vehicle belonging to the company was missing.

Around 10am, the second stolen vehicle was spotted travelling east on Devine St. near Indian Rd. and a suspect was arrested without incident.

A 15-year-old Lambton County male is charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act with break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and four counts of breaching probation.
