35th Annual Bluewater Triathlon On This Weekend

The 35th annual Bluewater Triathlon and Duathlon is set for this weekend in Bright's Grove.

There are six adult races planned for Saturday with the ironkid race set for Sunday.

Spokesman Ken Walker says a lot of training goes into preparing for the events.

"Most people who are prepared properly try and get nine workouts a week in, three in swimming, three in running and three in biking," says Walker. "It's nice around her to be in the lake, because swimming in Lake Huron is much different than swimming in a pool."

"Some people who've never been in the lake end up swimming in a 'S' shape, they're all over the lake."

The premiere event is the Olympic Distance Triathlon which includes a 1.5km swim, 40km bike, and 10km run.

The races get underway at 8:30am from the St. John's In The Wilderness Church, and will wrap up at Wildwood Park.
