City Fire Ban Issued Due To Air Quality Concerns

A city-wide fire ban has been issued by Sarnia Fire Rescue Services with hot, humid weather expected to continue through the weekend.

Fire Life Safety Educator Mike Otis says the temporary ban on all open burning applies to both rural and urban areas.

It's based on air quality as Environment Canada's heat warning continues and little to no wind is predicted during evenings.

If landowners or occupants fail to comply with the ban, the fire chief will take action to have the fire extinguished and apply a service fee of nearly $230.

The ban is in effect until Monday, July 25.
