Police Looking For Missing Boater

Police are conducting a search of the St. Clair River after a 22-year-old boater went missing near Point Edward.

The Ontario Provincial Police say the man was last seen on Sunday, while on a large cruiser yacht as it entered the harbour channel entrance to the Bridgeview Marina near Exmouth St.

Police were called to the scene around 7pm, and the OPP Marine Unit, St. Clair County Michigan Dive Team, Canadian and American Coast Guards, as well as Sarnia and Point Edward Fire and Water Rescue are working to locate the missing boater.

The OPP have identified the man, but will not be releasing his identity pending the results of the search and until family members have been notified.

Areas of the channel have been marked and secured as water rescue members search beneath the water level. Police are asking everyone to keep clear of the search and rescue effort.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
