Sarnia, Windsor To Co-Host Winter Hockey Tournament

Sarnia and Windsor have been announced as joint hosts of this winter's elite international Nations Cup AAA hockey tournament.

Sarnia will welcome teams from the 2006 birth year while Windsor will host the '02 and '04 divisions.

Tourism Sarnia-Lambton spokesperson Vicky Praill says the event will pit teams from Canada, including Sarnia, against squads from the USA.

She says it'll be a big boost for the local economy.

"Each team usually carries anywhere from 18 to 21 players on their roster and then obviously their family and friends," says Praill. "So, we'll have a couple hundred people that will be visiting our area and we are excited to welcome them."

The tournament, put on by Legacy Global Sports, is scheduled for December 16 to 18, with up to 20 teams taking part.
