Boardwalk Motorcycle Rider Arrested

City police say a 53-year-old Sarnia man has been charged after a motorcycle was seen driving on the Centennial Park boardwalk early Friday morning.

Around 2:40am, a uniformed officer saw the motorcycle travelling northbound on the boardwalk with the operator allegedly in an impaired state.

The motorcycle was eventually stopped after it sped past the area of the Duc d'Orleans cruise ship.

Police say the man riding the bike was arrested for refusing to provide a breath sample which upon conviction carries the same penalties as impaired driving.

After sobering up at police headquarters, he was released on a promise to appear in court.

His driver's licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and his motorcycle was towed and will be held for seven days.
