Stolen Property Recovered, Sarnia Man Charged

Sarnia police are working to return some stolen property to its rightful owners.

Constable Nelson Amaral says Thursday July 21, an officer arrested a suspect carrying a large black backpack near Christina St. and Derby Lane, for violating a probation order.

Amaral says a search of the suspect led to the recovery of several items linked to thefts from vehicles in the Wiltshire and Twin Lakes area.

He says a number of the items remain unclaimed including cell phones and gift cards.

"We're asking the public if you recently suffered a theft from your vehicle in the area of Wiltshire and Twin Lakes subdivisions, to contact Constable Richard Scott at the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861 ext. 6217," says Amaral.

"You will need to properly identify an item before attempting to claim it."

A 25-year-old Sarnia man is charged with possession of a controlled substance, six counts of possession of stolen property, possession of a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and seven counts of breach of probation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
