Young Couple Threatened In Downtown Sarnia

A young couple was accosted and threatened by an unknown man early Sunday morning in downtown Sarnia.

Constable John Sottosanti says it happened around 8am on Christina St. when a man began yelling "you want to die" and gestured that he had a weapon.

He says the couple ran into a nearby restaurant to call for help.

"He continued yelling from outside the restaurant and threw an object at the window and spat on the window," says Sottosanti.

"Once the suspect realized police were being called, he fled the area. Police were able to locate the suspect. He was subsequently arrested and held for a bail hearing."

The 33-year-old Toronto man is charged with two counts each of uttering threats and assault, mischief under $5,000 and breaching an undertaking and probation.
