Three Names Considered For New Consolidated School

Three names are under consideration for Sarnia's new consolidated secondary school.

An ad hoc naming committee for the consolidated St. Clair Secondary School and SCITS says out of 145 submissions it is seeking further input on the names; Bluewater Collegiate, Great Lakes Secondary School and Sarnia Clearwater Collegiate.

Committee Chair Bob Murphy says the committee stayed away from any reference to the former schools, North South references and naming the school after a person.

"It wasn't really about the frequency with which they were suggested, it's just that those were the names the committee members really felt were well suited to the broader region," says Murphy.

Individuals wishing to comment on the short listed names can do so through the Lambton Kent District School Board website under the ARC - Sarnia South Secondary Schools section or fill out a form and drop it in a ballot box located at SCSS, SCITS or the Sarnia or Chatham Board Offices.

Input will be accepted until August 17.

The committee will present its recommendation to the Board for approval August 30.
