Greekfest Returns To Downtown For Tenth Anniversary

After a successful event last summer, Greekfest will return to Sarnia's downtown as it celebrates ten years.

Project Coordinator Allison Cadwallader says they expect about 2,500 people throughout the weekend.

Organizers have been working with the Country Butcher to offer Greek sausages Friday night. Refined Fool has also created a special brew for the occasion called "Zeus Juice."

Cadwallader the event begins Friday night to coincide with First Friday.

"With a successful move to downtown last year, we decided to keep the event down there for the 10th year," says Cadwallader. "There's lots of things going on for First Friday."

A Greek band from Toronto will hit the stage Friday and Saturday night.

The festival will feature all the Greek favourites like souvlaki, gyros, and loukoumades, and a Greek donut that Cadwallader says has been a huge hit in recent years.

The event is on Friday evening from 5pm until 11pm, Saturday from noon until 11pm, and Sunday from noon until 5pm.
