Boys Aged 15 And 12 Charged With Auto Theft

Two boys, aged 15 and 12, from Sarnia are facing stolen vehicle charges after police stopped a minivan in Chatham.

Police say the vehicle had been reported stolen from Sarnia.

The traffic stop was made on Park St. at around 8pm Tuesday after police responded to a traffic complaint about a brown van.

Police say the 15-year-old driver and his 12-year-old passenger are charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

They were released and are to appear in court August 29.

Chatham-Kent police say the youths were wanted on outstanding warrants and were turned over to Sarnia police.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
