UPDATE: Careless Smoking Causes House Fire

Sarnia fire officials say careless smoking caused a fire at mid afternoon Tuesday that extensively damaged a house on Cameron St.

The blaze destroyed the back deck of the home in the 200-block of Cameron near Russell St. and spread into the home's attic causing $80,000 damage.

No one was injured.

Fire Life Safety Educator Mike Otis says the entire rear of the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived before 3pm.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
