Sarnia Fire and Rescue has issued a temporary ban on open burning in the city.

It's in effect until Monday morning due to air quality concerns in the heat and humidity.

The fire department says the ban includes both urban and rural areas.

Any residents failing to comply with the order will be charged a $228 fee to have the fire extinguished.
