OPP Warn Of Air Quality Scam

The OPP are warning residents that another common telemarketing scam has surfaced in Sarnia-Lambton again.

Police say telemarketers are calling people and offering "no cost" upgrades to water heaters and ventilation and air conditioning systems.

In some cases, they may misrepresent themselves as a current supplier, local utility or municipality.

Police say the scammers often pressure residents to accept an urgent inspection of their water heater or AC system and sign a contract with them on the spot.

Police warn that once a long-term contract is signed, it's often too late to get out of it without paying lofty cancellation fees.

If you get a visit or call, you're urged to contact the Better Business Bureau.
