Hip Fans Gather In Canatara Despite Rain (GALLERY)

Thousands of Sarnia-Lambton residents filed into Canatara Park for "That Night In Sarnia" Saturday.

Despite the rain, close to 10,000 people attended the event which was one of 181 locations publicly airing the CBC broadcast of the Tragically Hip’s final concert in Kingston.

Event goers filled the park with signs of support for the Tragically Hip and their lead singer as they, along with rest of the country, watched the televised concert.

Donations were collected for The Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research and the Bluewater Health Foundation. The exact amount raised will be known in the coming weeks as donations are still being accepted at BlackburnRadio on London Rd.

"That Night In Sarnia" was expected to be one of the largest viewing parties in Canada with support from over 80 volunteers, 30 local businesses and other organizations making the event possible.
