Ribfest Is Back

There will be a Ribfest in Sarnia after all.

After the Sarnia Kinsmen Club announced in May the event would be cancelled after 17 years in the community, Northern Heat Rib Series decided to make the city one of its stops.

Spokesperson Justin Brown says they contacted Hiawatha Horse Park as soon as they heard the news.

"We saw the news as well and we couldn't believe it, I mean after 17 years in Sarnia Ribfest is gone, we knew that people were going to be upset obviously it's a fantastic event that brought everybody together," says Brown.

"When we did hear that we began looking at the possibility of how we could bring it back to the community and over the course of the summer we've done that. We've come to an agreement with Hiawatha Horse Park to hold the event over the long weekend in September and we're really excited."

The event will be held once again at Hiawatha Horse Park, Friday September 2nd through Sunday September 4th.

Brown says there will be up to six ribbers at the event and admission is free.

There will be live entertainment, craft booths and a kidzone as well.
