Update: Standoff Ends In Central Sarnia, Man Arrested

A Sarnia man has been arrested following a four hour standoff in the central part of the city Tuesday morning.

Sarnia police had blocked off Roger St. near High Park Public School around 7am following reports that a male, armed with a long gun, had barricaded himself inside a home.

Constable John Sottosanti says police and the emergency response team took every precaution possible, but attempts to contact the male inside the residence were unsuccessful.

"After being concerned in regards to the male party's well being, entry was made by the emergency response team and the suspect was located in the attic of the residence," says Sottosanti.

Sottosanti says the man was taken into custody without incident just after 11am and didn't require any medical attention.

Roger St. between Maxwell St. and Exmouth St. was closed to all foot and vehicle traffic until just before noon.
