Sarnia Man Faces 15 Charges Following Police Standoff

A 26-year-old Sarnia man faces 15 charges following a four hour police standoff on Roger St. Tuesday morning.

Sarnia police had blocked off Roger St. near High Park Public School around 7am following reports that a man, possibly armed with a long gun, had barricaded himself inside a home.

Constable John Sottosanti says concerned for the man's well-being, the Emergency Response Team entered the townhouse and located the suspect in the attic. He was arrested without incident.

Officers also seized a sawed-off rifle from the home.

Charges include possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, possession of cocaine and three counts of failing to comply with probation.

The suspects name will not be released to protect the identity of children involved in the matter.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
