New Boat Launch Construction Underway

Construction of a new boat launch in Centennial Park is underway.

City of Sarnia Communications Coordinator Katarina Ovens says it's being built just to the east of the existing Sarnia Bay Marina building.

"The existing boat launch parking lot is the most ideal location to build a berm to store the impacted material at Centennial Park," she says. "Boating activities will be consolidated all around Sarnia Bay Marina. More green space will also be created at the property."

She adds that the city will also be able to avoid costly dredging costs to maintain the existing boat launch.

The existing launch will remain in use until the new one is done, likely sometime in October.

It will feature the same number of ramps and Ovens say parking lot capacity will be equal to or greater than the existing launch parking.
