BioAmber's Sarnia bio-succinic acid plant has reached another operating milestone.
The Montreal-based company says, on its website, that its joint venture with Mitsui & Co. has achieved the final operational benchmark as set out in a $20-million commercial loan it drew down in 2015.
The company says the Sarnia plant on Vidal St. demonstrated performance levels that validated commercial operation in its loan agreements including those with Export Development Canada and Farm Credit Canada.
BioAmber is considering building a second plant and has an option on land at TransAlta's Bluewater Energy Park in Sarnia.
Sites in Louisiana and Iowa were also in the running.
