Arrest Made In Smash And Grab Thefts

Sarnia police have made an arrest in connection with a rash of smash and grab thefts from local businesses.

Police say six thefts happened between July 17 and August 30.

They say in most cases, video surveillance shows the accused gaining entry by smashing a window and removing items from inside.

On Tuesday, police conducted a traffic stop and arrested a suspect. A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly resulted in the seizure of property linked to the break-ins and police say more stolen items were recovered from a residence.

43-year-old Mark Allan Erickson faces six charges of break, enter, and commit and six charges of breach of probation.

He's being held for a bail hearing.
