Sarnia Police Make Arrest In Unprovoked Assault

Sarnia police have made an arrest in an unprovoked assault in the area of the Kenwick Building at George St. and Christina St. August 25.

A 64-year-old man, conducting property checks came upon a person sleeping in a stairwell. When he tried to wake the individual, he was knocked to the ground and punched a number of times.

The suspect ran off when a witness came by.

A description was circulated and, with the help of the public, police identified the suspect and made an arrest.

26-year-old Justin Denis Leroux was in custody awaiting a bail hearing on a charge of assault causing bodily harm.

The victim was transported to hospital but released later that night.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
