Grand Reopening At Sarnia Christian School

A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned Saturday to officially reopen the newly renovated Sarnia Christian School.

$1.5-million dollars of work has been done to the building at the corner of Exmouth St. and Pontiac Dr.

Principal Len Smits says students now have the space to create and collaborate.

"Basically we tore down the original piece of our building, which was built 65 years ago and replaced it with a modern 21st century educational wing that has capacity for the fine arts and different learning styles," says Smits.

He says because they're a private school, most of the renovation costs were collected through sponsors and fundraising.

An open house is scheduled from 11:30 to 2pm with a ribbon cutting and barbecue planned at noon.

Grade 8 students will be providing tours.

Smits says they hope to start phase two of the project next summer, which includes new windows, more classroom air-conditioning and facade upgrades to the addition built in 1985.
