United Way Annual Day Of Caring

It's the annual "Day of Caring" which is the official kick off for the 2016 United Way campaign.

Spokesperson Pamela Bodkin says about 200 people will fan out across Lambton County, helping non-profit agencies and individuals with a wide range of projects.

"Volunteers will be doing yard work and minor home repairs for seniors and those with disabilities, as well as general maintenance and sprucing up of non profit agencies across the county," she says. "By doing this work at the agencies, it allows them to allocate more of their funds to human care services instead of building maintenance."

32 sponsoring companies will give employees the day off work to assist at 38 different job sites.

This year's goal is $2-million and Bodkin says they've already reached 30% of their objective.
