36th Annual Terry Fox Run Set For Sunday

The 36th annual Terry Fox Run in support of cancer research is this Sunday at Sarnia's Canatara Park.

Spokesperson Jo Kulik says it's a family oriented event and says there's no registration fee or minimum amount to be pledged.

"87 cents of every dollar goes directly to cancer research. We have no budget locally, we're all volunteers. We'll have food and coffee there which is all donated by local businesses," says Kulik.

Pledge forms are available at a number of locations including local banks, and the LCBO.

To date, $700-million has been raised across Canada over the past 35 years. In Sarnia, tens of thousands of dollars are raised annually.

Registration gets underway at 8am followed by the opening ceremony at 9am which includes a survivors lap.

Runs are also planned Sunday in Petrolia, Alvinston, Wallaceburg, London and Chatham.
