Arrest Made In Violent Daylight Assault

Sarnia police have made an arrest in connection with an unprovoked violent assault in broad daylight.

City police say on September 12, a man driving in the area of Lincoln Park Ave. and Cecil St. stopped his vehicle and attacked a 54-year-old male pedestrian.

Constable John Sottosanti says the victim remains in London hospital with serious injuries.

"From all the information received from witnesses and the victim, the two parties did not know each and that the attack was totally unprovoked," says Sottosanti. "The Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch was able to determine the suspect was a Brandon McNevan, 25-years of age and a warrant was issued for aggravated assault."

Sottosanti says the suspect surrendered to police after the Emergency Response Team and Criminal Investigation Branch located him at an Earlscourt Dr. apartment Wednesday night.

McNevan has been remanded into custody and is also facing charges from another jurisdiction.
