Thanksgiving Food Drive Underway

This years annual Thanksgiving Food Drive is critical for the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

Executive Director Myles Vanni says right now they're seeing about 1,850 accessing the food bank every month.

He says they're hoping to collect 40,000 lbs of food to restock their bare shelves.

"Food donations basically drop off to very little over the summer as people are away on holidays or thinking about those who are hungry and food drives," says Vanni.

"We had to buy more food this summer than we have probably the last two to three summers combined."

The Thanksgiving Food Drive runs until October 17.

Donations can be made at most area grocery stores, fire halls, The Good Shepherd's Lodge on Confederation St. and The Inn of the Good Shepherd on John St.
