Sarnia police have arrested a man in connection with the assault and robbery of a cabbie last month.

A 72-year-old cab driver was struck in the face after a fare demanded money on the morning of September 11, in the area of McGee St. and Elrick Cr.

Police say the public was able to help identify the suspect after a photo from surveillance video was released.

Justin Thompson, 22, was arrested in downtown Sarnia Thursday afternoon and remanded in custody on charges of robbery with violence, assault with a weapon and breach of probation.

The cab driver was not seriously hurt.
