City Building Permits Steady In September

Building numbers in Sarnia continue to be strong in 2016.

In September, 54 permits were issued with a value of just over $8-million. That brings the year to date total to $59.6-million through the first nine months of the year.

The numbers are $6-million ahead of last year's pace.

September's biggest permit was for a $1.1-million addition at Shelley Machine and Marine at 1300 Plank Rd.

It was also a strong month for new home construction, with 14 permits being issued for single family dwellings.

That brings the year to date total to 122, compared to 94 at this time last year.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
