Warwick Township Man Killed In Crash

A man from Warwick Township was killed in a fiery crash late Tuesday night in North Middlesex.

He's been identified as 30-year-old Jonathan Hooks.

OPP say a grey Ford van was travelling north on Kerwood Rd. when it left the road, struck a steel hydro pole and caught fire.

Police say civilians were able to help extricate the two occupants of the vehicle.

The driver, a 60-year-old man from Bosanquet, was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and is in critical condition. Hooks, the passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators were called in.

Middlesex OPP Constable Liz Melvin says it's been a tragic few days on area roads.

"There's serious concern with some of the incidents that have been occurring in our area," says Melvin. "Of course we want the safety messaging out there that driving is a privilege not a right and to make sure that you obey the rules of the road."

Early Thanksgiving Monday, a 28-year-old Brampton man died when the tanker truck he was driving rolled on the 402 near London. The highway finally reopened Tuesday night around 8pm.
