Flu Already Confirmed In Sarnia-Lambton

The first community flu clinic isn't until October 27, and Sarnia-Lambton already has its first confirmed case of the virus.

Lambton Public Health Supervisor Erin Courtney says flu season is starting early compared to last year.

"We're starting to see flu now in the community," says Courtney. "We do have one confirmed case already in the community, so it started early. Last year, it started at the end of January. So it was a different flu season, so because it's already out there get your flu shot early."

There were 79 confirmed cases of the flu in Sarnia-Lambton last season and one flu-related death.

Infants, seniors and individuals with chronic health conditions are considered to be most at risk from the flu.
