Sting Have Banner Night, Beat Colts

The Sarnia Sting downed the visiting Barrie Colts 5-2 in OHL play Friday night. It was a night that saw the Sting's 2015-16 West Division Championship banner raised to the rafters of the Progressive Auto Sales Arena prior to puck drop.

Jordan Ernst and Anthony Salinitri each scored a goal and added an assist for the Sting. Ryan McGregor, Jaden Lindo and Nikita Korostelev also lit the lamp. Korostelev is now tied for the OHL lead with 10 goals, equal to Windsor's Ryan Moore. James Cordell and Jason Willms scored for Barrie.

Justin Fazio made 28 saves on 30 Colts shots. Barrie goalie David Ovsjannikov was pulled after allowing four goals on 15 shots, Christian Propp stopped 16 of 17 shots in relief.

The Sting scored once on eight powerplay chances but killed off all seven penalties against. The win moves the Sting to first place in the OHL with a 7-2-1-0 record and 14 points.

The Sting went 2-1-0-0 on the weekend and will travel to Peterborough October 20 and Oshawa the following night.
