Pot, Weapon Seized In Traffic Stop

Lambton OPP say they seized marijuana, a loaded rifle and cash following a routine traffic stop in Dawn-Euphemia last Friday evening.

A car was stopped around 7pm in the area of Esterville Rd. and Kent Line.

The officer detected what he thought to be a strong smell of pot and a subsequent search led to the discovery of 279 g of suspected marijuana, $1,400 cash and a loaded .50 caliber rifle.

James Albert Barnes, 33, of Dresden and Bradley Michael Holmes, 28, of Tilbury face various charges including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Barnes is also charged with disobeying a stop sign and failing to surrender his licence.
