Sting Split Eastern Conference Road Trip, Fall To Generals

The Sarnia Sting fell 6-2 on the road against the Oshawa Generals in Ontario Hockey League play Friday night.

Jordan Kyrou scored both Sting goals and now has four goals and 15 points in ten games. Kyrou opened the scoring just five minutes into the first period on a wrist shot to the top corner, Alex Black picked up an assist.

Oshawa's Serron Noel tied the game 1-1 with 1:28 remaining in the first period. The Generals opened up a commanding 5-1 lead on second period goals from Anthony Cirelli, and Eric Henderson and third period markers off the sticks of Mitchell Vande Sompel, and Renars Krastenbergs.

Kyrou and Cirelli traded late third period goals to make the final 6-2.

Sting goalie Aidan Hughes stopped 29 of 35 Oshawa shots while Jeremy Brodeur made 28 saves on 30 shots between the pipes for the Generals.

The Sting went 1-1-0 for the week, they beat the Peterborough Petes 6-1 Thursday.

The Sting remain first place in the OHL standings with an 8-3-1-0 record and 17 points.

Sarnia's next game is October 28 against the Mississauga Steelheads at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
