A rally is planned at Sarnia city hall Friday from 11am until noon.
Resident Margaret Bird wants Mayor Mike Bradley supporters to protest city council's decision to temporarily move the mayor's office to the former transit director's office, on Michener Rd., while a new segregated location is prepared within city hall.
"I'm looking up all previous case studies and finding we can get rid of council and there's only two major reasons why we can get rid of them," she says. "There's probably others, but the two major ones are that they're self serving or there's a conflict of interest and there's plenty of that going on there and they really demonstrated that last night."
Council's actions were taken in response to a workplace investigation report that found the mayor bullied and harassed four senior staff members, including the current city manager.
The mayor has already had his salary docked for three months and can't communicate directly with staff.
A veteran member of Sarnia council says they're acting in the city's best interests.
Mike Kelch, on CHOK's The Talk Show with Sue Storr Tuesday morning, said the corporation is facing damage claims.
"There will be lawsuits against the city based on that report and council is now in what I would call 'damage control mode' to first of all, limit the damage and to do due diligence in the workplace to make sure it's a safe and healthy place for the staff to work," said Kelch.
Bradley was contacted by Blackburn News Tuesday morning and said he is withholding comment at this time on the latest developments at city hall.
