Parking Costs Triple At Bayside Mall

A significant hike in monthly underground parking fees planned at Bayside Centre will have downtown Sarnia workers feeling the pinch.

Customers have been notified that on November 1, a monthly parking pass will cost $100 plus $13 HST, up from the current $33.90.

General Manager Marilyn Moddejonge says they want to draw more customers into the mall rather than just parking there.

"It's us that's paying for all of this parking, the heat and everything for the underground parking, it's substantial ," she says.

To receive three hour parking for free, Moddejonge says mall customers will have to get a validation stamp by purchasing something at one of the stores.

There are 700 spaces in the underground parking lot, which is now open Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm and on Saturday from 9am-5pm.
