UPDATE: Reported Fire At Imperial Oil

A fire was reported Tuesday night at Imperial Oil's Sarnia manufacturing site.

Imperial Oil Public Affairs Advisor Jon Harding says in an email that emergency warning sirens were activated Tuesday night as a result of a a small fire in an operating unit.

The blaze occurred around 10:25pm and was extinguished at around 11:25pm.

No injuries were reported and monitoring at Imperial’s fence line showed no impacts to air quality.

Harding says the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change, the City of Sarnia, and the CVECO organization have all been notified of the incident.

An initial public message on the company's community phone line indicated plant crews had responded to a vapour release alarm.
