Sarnia-Lambton United Way Campaign Nears 70% Mark

The Sarnia-Lambton United Way annual fundraising campaign is nearing $1.4-million.

Executive Director Dave Brown says right now they're at 69% of their $2-million goal.

"We're actually $30,000 behind last years pace, which is about 1.5% and I expect by about Wednesday we will be at 70% of the campaign goal, which is $1.4-million," says Brown.

He says to date over 3,100 people have contributed to the campaign.

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 20 agencies providing 37 programs and services to the community.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
