47th Annual Gift Of Christmas

The 47th annual Gift of Christmas was officially launched this morning at the McDonald's restaurant on Christina St.

Donations go to the Salvation Army for its Christmas gift hampers for needy families.

Captain Mark Braye says families can register until Saturday November 26 at the thrift store on Christina St.

"Bring I.D, information about the household income, the ODSP, Ontario Works and later in December we distribute," says Braye. "Over 1,200 households are helped with food hampers and then more specifically for the toys with Christmas Wish, over 600 children."

Donations of unwrapped children's toys and gifts can be left at any McDonald's locations in Sarnia or at Blackburn Radio on London Rd.

The Salvation Army's annual Christmas Kettle Campaign kicks off Thursday morning. Braye says they're hoping to raise $120,000 this year.
