History Of Sarnia Streets To Be Posted Online

The history of Sarnia's streets will be posted to the city of Sarnia website.

Sarnia Council has endorsed the Streets of Sarnia Project, which explores Sarnia's history going back to the founding of Port Sarnia in 1836.

"This is probably the most fascinating thing I've ever seen in my life," said Councillor Andy Bruziewicz.

The historically based research venture explains why the street was named but also by whom.

Authors Tom St. Amand and Randy Evans said Sarnia has 740 streets, and they found information on 700 of them.

They hope the link, in the historical section of the city's website, will spark further interest from the community to explain the remaining 40.
