Hydro Workers Confronted By Man With Gun

One person is facing charges after hydro workers were confronted by a man with a firearm in Dawn-Euphemia Township.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on November 11, the hydro workers attended a residential property in order to interrupt the hydro supply. While they were working, the hydro employees were approached by a distraught man who lived in the area, and was expressing concern about what the hydro crews were doing.

The man then confronted the hydro workers with a firearm. The workers left the area immediately and called police. No one was assaulted or hurt during the incident.

As a result of an investigation into the incident, the OPP conducted a search warrant and have seized a number of guns and ammunition.

A 39-year-old Dawn-Euphemia man has now been charged with nine counts of unlawfully possessing a firearm/ammunition while prohibited, three counts of storing a firearm carelessly, and careless use of a firearm. The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Wednesday.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to contact the OPP at 519-882-1011 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
