Sarnia-Lambton MP Named In Parliamentarians Of The Year Awards

Sarnia-Lambton MP Marilyn Gladu has been recognized by MacLean's Magazine in its annual Parliamentarians of the Year awards.

Gladu has been named "most collegial" parliamentarian.

The magazine says the rookie MP is becoming increasingly known for her pragmatic approach for working across party lines.

Gladu did not agree with her own party's decision to eliminate the long-form census, and as Tory science critic, she supported the Liberals unmuzzling of scientists.

NDP MP Nathan Cullen was named the best orator. Interim Conservative leader Rona Ambrose won the award for hardest working MP while Yukon MP Larry Bagnell was said to best represent constituents.

Winnipeg Liberal MP Kevin Lamoureux was honoured as the most knowledgeable.

NDP leader Tom Mulcair won the top honour of Parliamentarian of the year while former New Democrat leader Ed Broadbent won the lifetime achievement award

The winners were chosen by all MP's in a secret-ballot survey.
