Poor Boy Luncheon Kickoff

The Moore Optimist Club's 35th annual Operation Christmas Tree campaign is underway.

Thursday's Poor Boy Luncheon is being held at the Royal Canadian Legion on Albert St. in Corunna from 11:30am until 1pm.

Drive President Lorne Powell says last year they helped 130 St. Clair Township families including 125 children. Hampers contain non-perishables, toys and items for babies such as diapers.

"We're short of cash so far this year," he says. "When we send our hampers out we include a gift card from the local grocery store in Corunna. That allows the families to go and get the perishables we're not able to include in the hampers that they may want at Christmas time."

Food items, money and toys can be dropped off at the OPP Emergency Services Building in Corunna.
