Failed Attempt To Flee Police

A Sarnia man faces charges after a failed attempt to flee police.

Around 1am Wednesday, an officer on patrol spotted a vehicle headed north on Russell St. with no tail lights on.

Police say when the officer began to follow the vehicle, it appeared the driver was trying to evade police by making quick and sudden turns and speeding up.

The vehicle drove onto the front lawn of a property on Watson St., striking a tree and a lawn stone.

The pursuit ended when an officer was able to block the vehicle in with a police cruiser.

Police say a 21-year-old man was arrested and is now charged with breach of recognizance and flight from police. The man was under conditions  not to operate a vehicle or be in the driver's seat. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
