The Sarnia Police Service is thanking the public for its generosity during the annual Cops for Cans event last Saturday.

Over 6,100 lbs of food was collected in five hours, exceeding last year's total by over 1,000 lbs.

It will be passed on to the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

Since its inception four years ago, Cops for Cans has donated more than 16,000 lbs of food to the inn.
