Suspension Notices In The Mail

Over 2,900 students in Sarnia-Lambton could be suspended from school early in the new year.

Lambton Public Health says elementary and high school students with outdated vaccination information face suspension on February 21, 2017.

Supervisor Erin Courtney says this is first notice for parents.

"The entire province requires this process," says Courtney. "Requiring proof of immunization for communicable diseases helps further protect children from vaccine preventable diseases and reduces the risk of disease outbreak in our schools."

Lambton Public Health says the records include immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, mumps, rubella, measles, meningitis, whooping cough and chicken pox for children born in 2010 or later.

Courtney says parents can update records online at www.lambtonpublichealth.on.ca by phone at 519-383-8331, or in person at the Exmouth St. health unit.
